Murmansk region, Tersky district, Umba, Dzerzhinskogo st, 18

The first church in Umba have been raised in the XV century.  It was, probably, the structure of the Solovetsky monastery. In 1778 it was rebuilt  by a new one, which had been working till the end of the XIX century. In 1894 a new warm, log three-altar Church has been built by the peasants. The high altar is in honor of the Christ resurrection, South altar-  in honor of the apostles Peter and Pavel, North altar  –in honor of the Virgin and St. Anne.  The Church had  two tiered and gilded iconostasis . It was closed in the 1930s and after it was used as a club, a maternity hospital and kindergarten.  In the 1980s the building  had fallen into disrepair and  it is restoring   from 1990s till nowadays.
The new Church building was erected here in 2003. It is a completely wooden building, more like a residential building than a traditional Church with low porch, indoor gable roof. The interior is  modest, but nevertheless meets all the canons of Orthodoxy.
At the present time the Church is open daily from 10:00 to 14:00. Services are held on Friday evening, Saturday morning and evening, Sunday morning. Morning worship begin at 9:00, evening- at  17:00.
