The name «glendonite» comes from Glendon, New South Wales, Western Australia. It was discovered there in ancient carbonaceous (Coral) sediments. Glendonite a pseudomorph, where a mineral's shape is taken over by another mineral. In this case, Ikaite is extremely unstable at above ground pressure, so it's almost never seen as anything but a pseudomorph, Glendonite, and isn't common even then.
In Russia, the deposit of glendonite is located near the Olenitsa village on the Tersky Coast.Tersky pomors call glendonite as «Belomorskaya rogulka» because of its unusual shape. It is formed of the calcium carbonate mineral known as Calcite. Glengonite look like spheres with horns to 15 cm long. Glendonite is highly valued by collectors. It is used as amulets or decorations and souvenirs.
