National biological (fisheries) sanctuary Varzugskiy

Taiga is fur- trees, pine-trees and paludual forest. The flora numbers more 380 vascular plants of 66 families. 7 kind of them listed in the Red book of Murmansk region and 2 of them – in the Red book of Russia. Varzuga river residents are trout, grayling, white-fish and other valuable fish. This is the only dace residence.  In the river bed the bivalve pearl-shell inhabits, which is included in the Red Book of Murmansk region. Wolverine, lynx, tawny owl, gray crane,  northern bat, otter and other species of animals included in the Red book  are found these forests. On the territory are allowed:
a) zoological, botanical, fisheries research and experimental work according to the approved plans of the research work as agreed with the Committee of ecology and nature management of the Murmansk region, the administration of the sanctuary.
b) conducting forest inventory, silvicultural works, intermediate cuttings and other forestry activities (with the exception of felling) within the boundaries of the refuge by special permission of the Forestry Agency of the Murmansk region and as agreed with the Committee of ecology and nature management of the Murmansk region;
c) sports and recreational fishing organization of on the basis of permits of Federal authority in the field of water bioresources  as agreed with the Committee of ecology and nature management of the Murmansk region;
d) tourist organization as agreed with the Committee of ecology and nature management of the Murmansk region;

e) For «Vshodi kommunizma» organization: mowing, timber floating down the river, implementation of works associated with the economic activity of the farm, the movement of boats and other vehicles on the sanctuary territory, fishing on the basis of permits of Federal authority in the field of control and supervision in sphere of protection, reproduction and use of water biological resources and their habitats in the Murmansk region;
f) camps and bases placing for recreational purposes on forest land by permission of the Forestry Agency of the Murmansk region and the administration of the Tersky and Lovozero districts and with approval of the Committee of ecology and nature management of the Murmansk region.
